Description
Knafeh is a delicious Middle Eastern dessert made with thin noodle-like pastry soaked in syrup and layered with cheese or cream. It's typically served warm and topped with crushed pistachios or walnuts, offering a delightful combination of textures and flavors. This sweet treat is perfect for sharing with family and friends during gatherings or special occasions.
Ingredients
- Kataifi dough - 5.6 oz
- Butter - 3.5 oz
- Ricotta cheese - 7.1 oz
- Gingerbread-flavored syrup - 4 fl oz
- Powdered Sugar - 0.7 oz
- Lemon - ½ pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Divide the butter into 2 portions of 20 grams and 80 grams. Bring the 80 grams of butter to room temperature and mix it into the kataifi dough cut into 1-2 cm lengths. Also, incorporate 10 grams of powdered sugar.
Step 2
Add 10 grams of powdered sugar and the zest of half a lemon to the ricotta, and mix everything together.
Step 3
Spread half of the kataifi evenly across the surface of a 24-26 cm skillet, then layer all of the cottage cheese on top, and cover everything with the remaining half of the kataifi.
Step 4
Place on the heat and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side over low heat, until golden brown.
Step 5
Transfer the knafeh to a serving tray, drizzle with syrup, allow it to cool slightly, and you can sprinkle some tasty nuts on top.
