Description
Kourabiedes — Traditional Greek Christmas Sweet with Mastic
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 24.7 oz
- Margarine - 14.1 oz
- Chopped almonds - 7.1 oz
- Baking Powder - 0.5 oz
- Whole egg - 2 pieces
- Mastic - 0.5 oz
- Powdered Sugar - 7.1 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Beat the margarine and powdered sugar in a mixer until smooth.
Step 2
Then add the egg yolks, mastic powder, liqueur, and continue to beat. Gradually add the baking powder (or baking soda mixed with vinegar) and flour, then add the chopped almonds. The dough should be soft and pliable. You can shape it into elongated pieces by taking small amounts of dough, or you can cut it out using a mold after rolling it out slightly, not too thin. You can place a whole almond in the center of each kourabiedes.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 356°F. Bake for 15–20 minutes.
Step 4
Once ready, while still warm, lightly sprinkle with water, dust with powdered sugar, and place on a serving dish.
