Ingredients
- Onion - 2 lbs
- Puff Pastry - 17.6 oz
- Garlic - 6 cloves
- Olive Oil - 3 fl oz
- Salt - to taste
- Sugar - to taste
- Olives stuffed with lemon - 20 pieces
- Anchovies - 16 pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 356°F. Place the onion and garlic in a pan with a tight-fitting lid, add olive oil, a teaspoon each of sugar and salt, and 100 ml of water. Cover and cook, without browning, for 10 minutes until soft. Remove the lid, increase the heat, and stir the onion frequently for 15 minutes until it turns dark caramel in color and all the liquid evaporates.
Step 2
Roll out the pastry and prick it in several places. Spread the onion evenly over the pastry, decorate with anchovies in a cross pattern, then place one olive in each resulting square. Bake for 20 minutes until the base is cooked through and the top of the pie is golden.
