Description
Mackerel in this recipe can easily be replaced with any canned fish you have at home, such as salmon or tuna, and leftover cod or pollock from previous meals can also be used, or even better, halibut. Under the crispy crust of the pie, they will look just perfect.
Ingredients
- Puff Pastry - 17.6 oz
- Onion - 1 piece
- Canned Mackerel in Oil - 1 can
- Butter - 1.1 oz
- Rice - ½ cup
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Spices - to taste
- Salt - to taste
- Mayonnaise - 3 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Boil the rice in salted water.
Step 2
Dice the onion and sauté it slightly.
Step 3
Open the canned fish and mash the fish with a fork.
Step 4
Mix all the ingredients well, add salt, spices, mayonnaise, and mix the filling again until smooth.
Step 5
Divide the puff pastry into two sheets. Place the first sheet on a greased baking tray, add all the filling on top, and spread it evenly.
Step 6
Grate the butter evenly directly onto the filling (it will add juiciness to the pie), cover the pie with the second layer of pastry and seal the edges.
Step 7
Brush the pie with egg yolk and place it in a preheated oven at 356°F for 20 minutes.
