Description

Lekach Cake

Ingredients

  • Chicken Egg - 2 pieces
  • Honey - 7.1 oz
  • Raw cane sugar - ¾ cup
  • Kefir - 1 cup
  • Sour Cream - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable Oil - 4 tablespoons
  • Activated Baking Soda - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Black tea - 4.2 oz
  • Walnuts - 3.5 oz
  • Raisins - to taste
  • Wheat Flour - 2 cups
  • Potato protein - ½ tablespoon
  • Butter - 0.7 oz
  • Ground clove - 5 pieces
  • Cinnamon - 1 piece

Step by Step guide

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, add 2 eggs and lightly beat them with a whisk.

Step 2

To the same bowl, add honey, sugar (don't worry, it won't be too sweet), kefir, sour cream, 2 tablespoons of vegetable (sunflower) oil, 1 teaspoon of baking soda (level), baking powder (I really like 'Dr. Oetker'), a pinch of salt, and ⅓ cup of strong tea (without leaves).

Step 3

Beat everything with a mixer on high speed, gradually adding flour until the batter reaches the consistency of thick sour cream.

Step 4

Chop the walnuts fairly finely.

Step 5

Grind the cloves and cinnamon stick.

Step 6

Add the nuts, raisins, ground cloves, cinnamon, and ½ tablespoon of starch to the batter and mix thoroughly with the mixer.

Step 7

Grease a baking pan with butter and vegetable oil and pour the batter into it.

Step 8

Place in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 1 hour, then switch the oven function to 'bottom' and let it bake for another 5-7 minutes at 160°C (320°F).

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let cool.

Step 10

After cooling, sprinkle with powdered sugar and decorate to taste.
