Ingredients

  • Oranges - 1 piece
  • Grated Ginger Root - 1 piece
  • Wheat Flour - 4.2 oz
  • Sugar - 5.3 oz
  • Activated Baking Soda - 1 teaspoon
  • Grated Ginger Root - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Date honey - 8 fl oz
  • Vegetable Oil - 2 fl oz
  • Chocolate eggs - 2 pieces

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Wash the orange, grate the zest, and squeeze the juice.

Step 2

Peel the ginger root and grate it finely.

Step 3

In a deep bowl, sift the flour, add sugar, baking soda, ground ginger, and cinnamon, and mix well.

Step 4

Make a well in the center of the flour, pour in the honey, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and the eggs.

Step 5

Add the orange zest.

Step 6

Mix, pour in the orange juice, add fresh ginger (a piece of 2–3 cm), and knead the dough until smooth.

Step 7

Preheat the oven to 356°F.

Step 8

Grease the baking dish with the remaining vegetable oil, and pour the dough into it.

Step 9

Bake the lekach for 40–50 minutes.

Step 10

Cool in the pan, then remove and turn it out onto a plate.
