Lemon-Almond Biscotti with Anise
Ingredients
- Star anise - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 6 tablespoons
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Vegetable Oil - 2 fl oz
- Grated Lemon Zest - 1½ teaspoons
- Baking Powder - ½ teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - ½ teaspoon
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
- Wheat Flour - 4.2 oz
- Chopped almonds - 2.1 oz
- Vanilla salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 356°F.
Step 2
In a bowl, mix the egg, sugar, vegetable oil, lemon zest, chopped anise, baking powder, vanilla, and salt. Then add the flour and almonds and knead well.
Step 3
Place the dough on a floured surface and knead for another 10 minutes.
Step 4
Divide the dough into 2 parts and shape into logs about 5 cm in diameter. Carefully transfer to a baking sheet, spacing them apart, and sprinkle with vanilla sugar.
Step 5
Bake for about 30 minutes until cooked through and golden brown. Cool for 10 minutes, transfer to a cutting board, and slice diagonally into thin pieces with a sharp knife.
Step 6
Transfer the slices back to the baking sheet and return to the oven for another 20 minutes. Cool.
