Lemon-Orange Cake
Ingredients
- Butter - 6 oz
- Sugar - 6 oz
- Eggs - 3 pieces
- All-purpose flour - 6 oz
- Lemon - 1 piece
- Orange - 1 piece
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Powdered Sugar - 3.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Beat the softened butter with sugar using a mixer until fluffy.
Step 2
Add the eggs one at a time; mix until smooth.
Step 3
Sift in the prepared flour with baking powder and the zest of the orange and/or lemon. You can make either an orange cake, a lemon cake, or a citrus mix; mix until smooth.
Step 4
Pour the batter into a loaf pan lined with parchment paper, smooth the top, and bake in the oven for 40 minutes at 347°F. Check for doneness with a skewer until it comes out clean.
Step 5
Meanwhile, prepare the syrup by squeezing the juice of the lemon or orange and whisking it with powdered sugar until smooth. Once the cake has cooled slightly, pour the syrup directly over the cake in the pan and let it cool completely to absorb.
Step 6
Remove the cooled cake from the pan and decorate to your liking; I used icing.
