Loukoumades (Greek Donuts)
Ingredients
- Water - 17 fl oz
- Wheat Flour - 17.6 oz
- Salt - 0.4 oz
- Sugar - 2 lbs
- Dry yeast - 1.1 oz
- Safflower Oil - 18 fl oz
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix all the ingredients and leave in a warm place for the dough to start fermenting slightly. Shape the dough into 20-gram balls, and drop them into boiling sunflower oil until cooked.
Step 2
Remove the donuts and place them on parchment paper to drain excess oil. Dip in syrup and place on a plate.
Step 3
Syrup: boil until all the sugar is dissolved. Then add the cinnamon stick, and optionally, lemon.
Step 4
Donuts can be served 5 pieces per portion. You can add any sauce: mango, blueberry, black currant, chocolate.
