Description
Typically, small pies or fried pastries are made with minced meat and mashed potatoes, and everyone has fond memories of them, along with a well-tested family recipe. However, if you're not in the mood to shape individual pastries, you can transform them into a large pie. You can also use store-bought puff pastry: all the benefits will remain — a crispy crust and juicy filling, while the hassle will be significantly reduced.
Ingredients
- Potato - 7.1 oz
- Ground meat - 17.6 oz
- Garlic - 1 clove
- Onion - 1 head
- Water - 2 fl oz
- Herb Bouquet - 1 tablespoon
- Puff Pastry - 17.6 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes.
Step 2
Cover the potatoes with water, add some salt, and boil until cooked through. This will take about 20 minutes, but the cooking time may vary depending on the size of the pieces.
Step 3
Drain the water from the potatoes and mash them into a puree.
Step 4
Chop the onion into small cubes.
Step 5
Heat oil in a skillet and sauté the onion until golden brown.
Step 6
Add the minced meat to the onions, season with salt and pepper, add the herb mix, pour in water, and simmer over medium heat, stirring, until the meat is cooked through. At the end, add the crushed garlic.
Step 7
Mix the minced meat with the mashed potatoes.
Step 8
Roll out half of the puff pastry so that it fits into the baking dish and covers the sides.
Step 9
Place the meat filling on the dough, cover it with the second half of the dough, trim any excess, and seal the edges.
Step 10
Make a small hole in the center of the pie for steam to escape, then place it in an oven preheated to 428°F for 20–25 minutes.
