Description
Millet porridge and pumpkin are two inseparable friends. When paired with apple and raisins, this porridge transforms from an everyday dish into something exciting. If you're feeling adventurous, you can also add a bit of grated cheese to the porridge.
Ingredients
- Millet - 7.8 oz
- Pumpkin - 14.1 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
- Cinnamon - ½ spoons
- Raisins - 1.8 oz
- Apple - 1 piece
- Sugar - 2 spoons
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the pumpkin and cut it into small pieces, each about 3–4 cm in size.
Step 2
Bring the water to a boil, add the pieces of pumpkin, and cook them until tender. This will take about 15–20 minutes.
Step 3
Blend the cooked pumpkin in a blender, adding oil and cinnamon, until smooth.
Step 4
Rinse the millet under running water, then cover it with water and bring to a boil. After boiling, drain the water and rinse the grains again.
Step 5
Return the rinsed millet to the pot, add water in a 1:2 ratio, add a pinch of salt and sugar, bring to a boil, and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.
Step 6
After 10 minutes, when the water is level with the grains, add the pumpkin puree and raisins, stir, cover the pot with a lid, and remove it from the heat. Let the dish sit for 30 minutes to finish cooking.
Step 7
Peel the apple and dice it into small cubes. Stir the apple into the prepared porridge and serve immediately.
