Description

Nanaimo Bars

Ingredients

  • Butter - 8.8 oz
  • Sugar - 1.8 oz
  • Cocoa Powder - 5 tablespoons
  • Egg white - 1 piece
  • Vanillin - 1 teaspoon
  • Crushed Vanilla Wafers - 6.7 oz
  • Desiccated coconut - 3.5 oz
  • Walnuts - 2.3 oz
  • Vanilla pudding mix - 3 tablespoons
  • Milk - 1 fl oz
  • Liquid dark chocolate - 7.1 oz
  • Powdered Sugar - 2½ cups

Step by Step guide

Step 1

To prepare this wonderful dessert, first make the base. Melt 100 grams of butter in a saucepan. Add sugar and cocoa powder and mix until smooth. Stir in the egg and vanillin, then remove from heat.

Step 2

Add the crushed wafers (you can substitute with crushed chocolate crackers), shredded coconut, walnuts, and mix well.

Step 3

Press the mixture into a greased square pan and compact it. The pan should not be too wide. Place it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

Step 4

Now prepare the creamy layer. Beat 70 grams of softened butter with a mixer until creamy.

Step 5

Add the vanilla pudding mix and milk. Continue to beat while gradually adding the powdered sugar.

Step 6

Pour the mixture over the base and refrigerate until this layer thickens.

Step 7

Now make the chocolate topping. Melt the chocolate pieces and remaining butter in a saucepan and let it cool slightly.

Step 8

Pour the chocolate as the third layer into the pan and refrigerate, but only until the chocolate starts to harden.

Step 9

Next, use a knife to mark the future cuts. Before the top layer hardens, cut the dessert into pieces. Do this with a hot knife, wiping it clean after each cut.

Step 10

Serve the dessert chilled.
