Description
Napoleon Cake made with ready-made puff pastry.
Ingredients
- Whole egg - 5 pieces
- Puff Pastry - 52.9 oz
- Sugar - 14.1 oz
- Wheat Flour - 8.8 oz
- Milk - 40 fl oz
- Vanilla salt - 1 tablespoon
- Cognac - 0 fl oz
- Walnuts - 7.1 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Thaw the dough.
Step 2
Pour the milk into a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
Step 3
Combine the flour with the sugar and vanilla sugar, add 5 egg yolks, and mix well. Then add the brandy and mix again.
Step 4
Pour in the milk and stir. Place over low heat.
Step 5
Cook until thickened, stirring continuously. The mixture should have a consistency similar to thick sour cream. Then, the cream needs to be cooled.
Step 6
Dust the surface for rolling out the dough with flour. Place the sheet of dough and roll it out slightly to the desired shape.
Step 7
Preheat the oven to 392°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (or foil), place a layer of dough on top, and bake for about 10 minutes on each side. Repeat this process with each layer of dough. You should have at least 5 layers. Then, divide the layers into 2 parts (if you are cutting the cooled layers, slice them in half lengthwise). I cut the freshly baked and hot layers. I burned my fingers a bit, but it was easier for me this way :) Then spread cream on each layer, stacking them one on top of the other with the browned side facing down, except for the last layer.
Step 8
Sprinkle each layer with grated walnuts.
Step 9
After that, let the cake sit for 30 minutes. The last layer (the first half of it) should be placed with the browned side facing up. Then, it is necessary to gently press down on the top of the cake, being careful not to crack the upper layer.
Step 10
Spread cream on the top layer and carefully trim the edges to make them even.
Step 11
Then spread cream on all sides. After that, crumble the remaining half of the cake and coat the sides of the cake with it. Generously sprinkle the top layer with crushed walnuts.
Step 12
Transfer the cake to a suitable surface and place it in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours.
