Description
Norwegian Apple Cake
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 10.6 oz
- Margarine - 4.9 oz
- Chocolate eggs - 2 pieces
- Crabapples - 10 pieces
- Meyer Lemon Juice - 1 fl oz
- Sugar - 5 tablespoons
- Vanilla salt - to taste
- Apricot Jam - 3 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Chop the butter or margarine. Add flour, sugar, and eggs. Mix the dough with a mixer on low speed and place it in a cool place for at least half an hour.
Step 2
Meanwhile, let's prepare the apples. Peel them (the quickest way is to use a special peeler) and remove the cores. Squeeze the juice from one lemon.
Step 3
Set aside half of the apples and chop them. Place the chopped apples in a frying pan, add 5 tablespoons of sugar, vanilla (can be in pods), lemon juice, and half a glass of water. Simmer for 10-15 minutes (until the water evaporates).
Step 4
Evenly spread the dough in a mold (26 cm in diameter). Do not make 'sides'!
Step 5
Cut each of the remaining apples in half. Then slice them very thinly, trying to keep the apple half intact.
Step 6
On the dough, place the sautéed apples from the frying pan, and on top, carefully arrange the sliced apple halves. Decorate the center of the cake with apples, spread apricot jam on top, and sprinkle with sugar.
Step 7
Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes at a temperature of 374°F.
