Description
This slightly moist cake with a pleasant nutty flavor will look festive if decorated with whipped cream.
Ingredients
- Walnuts - 8.8 oz
- Wheat Flour - 6.2 oz
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Butter - 4.4 oz
- Honey - 2.6 oz
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Farm fresh eggs - 2 pieces
- Orange zest - 1½ teaspoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 347°F. Grease and flour an 18 cm round cake pan.
Step 2
Spread the walnuts on a baking sheet and place in the preheated oven for 6 minutes. Chop the walnuts in a food processor with half of the flour, then mix the ground walnuts with the remaining flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
Step 3
In a large bowl, beat the butter with honey and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs with the orange zest. Gradually add to the butter mixture in three additions. Add the dry ingredients and mix.
Step 4
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes. While the cake is baking, toast 6-8 walnut halves in the oven on a baking sheet for 8 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon of honey and mix.
Step 5
Cool the cake in the pan for 5 minutes, then remove from the pan and cool on a wire rack. Decorate the cake with the prepared walnuts.
