Description

Those nostalgic treats from childhood. If you have an old Soviet mold for these cookies, they'll turn out perfectly classic. But nowadays, you can also get an electric nut maker; however, the cookies will be smaller in size.

Ingredients

  • Butter - 10 oz
  • Powdered Sugar - 5 oz
  • Chicken Egg - 2 pieces
  • Baking Powder - 0 oz
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk with Coffee - 10 oz
  • Walnuts - 5 oz
  • Wheat Flour - 20 oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1 Image

Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients.

Step 2 Image

Step 2

Cut the softened butter into pieces of any size and place it in the mixing bowl. Add powdered sugar to the butter.

Step 3 Image

Step 3

First, let the mixer run on medium speed for a few seconds to prevent the powdered sugar from flying out of the bowl. Once the butter is combined with the sugar, turn the mixer to high speed and beat for 10 minutes. Occasionally stop the mixer and scrape down the butter from the sides of the bowl.

Step 4 Image

Step 4

After 10 minutes, add the eggs to the butter and beat for another 5 minutes.

Step 5 Image

Step 5

Add the sifted flour and baking powder. Beat for another 2 minutes on low speed. The result should be a firm shortcrust pastry that behaves well in your hands.

Step 6 Image

Step 6

Roll the dough into several thin sausages, about the diameter of a medium-sized woman's finger.

Step 7 Image

Step 7

Cut the sausage into small pieces. Roll the first test ball from the dough. Its size should be such that it takes up more than half of the nut maker's capacity. Shape multiple balls at once so that you can bake them in batches later.

Step 8 Image

Step 8

Place the balls in the nut roaster and turn it on. Follow the instructions provided with the nut roaster. Typically, the shells are ready in about 20–30 seconds, but it depends on the specific roaster. Allow the finished shells to cool slightly. However, do not put them in the refrigerator under any circumstances, as the oil will become hard and the dough will lose its fluffiness.

Step 9 Image

Step 9

While the halves of the future nut are still warm, fill them with boiled condensed milk. Be careful: there shouldn't be too much condensed milk, so there is space left for the walnut.

Step 10 Image

Step 10

Place half of a walnut in one shell. Carefully glue the halves together. Wait until the nuts cool down.
