Description

Nut Roll with Cinnamon and Honey Syrup

Ingredients

  • Chopped almonds - 1.2 oz
  • Pistachios - 1.2 oz
  • Brown Sugar - 1½ tablespoons
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Wheat Flour - 9.9 oz
  • Baking Powder - 0.4 oz
  • Salt - 0.1 oz
  • Butter - 2.1 oz
  • Milk - 8 fl oz
  • Sugar - ½ cup
  • Honey - 3 tablespoons
  • Water - ⅓ cup
  • Chicken Egg - 1 piece

Step by Step guide

Step 1

For the filling, chop the nuts. Set aside one tablespoon for decoration, and mix the rest with brown sugar and cinnamon.

Step 2

For the dough, grate the butter and freeze it. In a bowl, mix the sifted flour with baking powder and salt, add the frozen butter, and rub it into crumbs. Gradually pour in the cold milk and knead the dough.

Step 3

Preheat the oven to 392°F. Grease a loaf pan measuring 18x9x7 cm with butter. Roll out the dough into a rectangle measuring 18x28 cm. Brush with lightly beaten egg. Spread the filling in a thin, even layer over the entire surface and, starting from the shorter side, roll it up into a log. Place it in the prepared loaf pan and bake in the oven for 35–40 minutes (check for doneness with a toothpick). Allow the roll to cool slightly for 5 minutes, then remove it from the pan.

Step 4

For the honey syrup, combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and heat over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and cook for another 5 minutes.

Step 5

Pierce the surface of the roll with a toothpick. Pour half of the syrup over the roll. Cut it into serving pieces and serve with the remaining syrup.
