Description
Oatmeal Inspired by Black Forest Cake
Ingredients
- Milk - 10 fl oz
- Ground Oats - 2.1 oz
- Espresso - 1 tablespoon
- Cocoa Powder - 1 tablespoon
- Vanilla extract - ½ teaspoon
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Ground dried cherries - 5 pieces
- Mascarpone Cheese Unagrande - 2 tablespoons
- Kirsch - 1 teaspoon
- Powdered Sugar - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Wash the cherries, remove the pits from three, and leave one for decoration. Place the pitted cherries in a small saucepan, add 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of kirsch, set over medium heat, and cook until the sugar dissolves and the syrup thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
Step 2
Whip the mascarpone with powdered sugar using a hand blender. Set aside.
Step 3
Combine milk, espresso, and vanilla extract in a saucepan, set over medium heat, stir, and bring to a boil. Add the oats and cook over medium heat, stirring, until thickened, about 5–7 minutes. In the last minute, stir in the cocoa powder and sugar and cook for another couple of minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the cherries in syrup.
Step 4
Serve the oatmeal immediately with the mascarpone cream and remaining cherries for an even closer resemblance to the dessert.
