Onion Pie with Cheese and Pork in Dark Beer
Ingredients
- Onion - 17.6 oz
- Pork Blood - 7.1 oz
- Fennel - 7.1 oz
- Dark Ale - 8 fl oz
- Puff Pastry - 17.6 oz
- Dried Chamomile - 1 teaspoon
- Cayenne Pepper - a pinch
- Salt - to taste
- Olive Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Cheese Spread - 1.8 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cut the pork into small pieces. Pour dark beer over it and let it sit for 20 minutes.
Step 2
Sauté the onion and fennel in olive oil.
Step 3
Drain the pork and sauté it briefly with the onion and fennel, then pour in the dark beer that the pork was marinated in. Simmer for about 15 minutes over medium heat. Add spices and salt.
Step 4
Divide the dough into two unequal parts, roll it out, and place the larger part in a baking dish, allowing the edges to hang over. Add the filling and sprinkle with cheese. Cut strips in a crosshatch pattern on the remaining piece, place it over the filling, and pinch the edges. Brush the top with egg.
Step 5
Bake at 374°F for about 45 minutes.
