Open Apple Pie with Orange Juice and Cinnamon

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour - 14.1 oz
  • Butter - 8.8 oz
  • Egg white - 1 piece
  • Brown Sugar - 3.5 oz
  • Apple - 2 lbs
  • Ground Cinnamon - to taste
  • Orange zest - 1 piece
  • Salt - a pinch

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Sift the flour into a deep bowl, add a pinch of salt, soft butter, and the egg. Knead the dough by hand. Form into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Peel the apples and remove the cores. Slice them into thin half-moons and place in a deep bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, and drizzle with orange juice. Gently mix and let sit for a while.

Step 3

Roll out the dough into a thin layer and place it in a greased 30 cm pie dish. Trim the excess edges.

Step 4

Arrange the apples in a circle on top of the dough and pour in the remaining juice. Sprinkle with sugar on top.

Step 5

Bake for 80 minutes at 365°F.
