Description

This cake can be topped with a glaze, either chocolate or marzipan, store-bought or homemade. You can also add chocolate chips for a chocolate-orange cake. A slice of this wonderful cake can be topped with a spoonful of mascarpone or whipped cream, mmmmm.... Either way, it will turn out simply divine!

Ingredients

  • Oranges - 1 piece
  • Sugar - 5.3 oz
  • Vanilla salt - 2 spoons
  • Butter - 5.3 oz
  • Chicken Egg - 3 pieces
  • Baking Powder - 2 spoons
  • Wheat Flour - 1½ glasses

Step by Step guide

Step 1

You need to zest the orange. For those who don't know, this is the outer layer of the citrus peel, the orange part. You can use a special tool for this, but I use a regular large grater. Next, squeeze the juice from the orange. You should get about half a cup. Set the juice and zest aside for now; you'll need them soon.

Step 2

Cream the sugar and butter together until smooth, then beat in the eggs and mix everything again until well combined. You can use a blender to whip the sugar, butter, and eggs together. If mixing by hand, you can use powdered sugar to make the task easier (in this case, the amount of powdered sugar should be slightly more than the amount of granulated sugar specified).

Step 3

After the eggs are blended with the butter and sugar, add the zest, orange juice, and vanilla sugar. Mix well. Then add the flour and baking powder. Mix thoroughly again.

Step 4

Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake for about 40 minutes in a preheated oven at 356°F. Check for doneness with a toothpick or a thin wooden skewer. When the cake is ready, the stick will come out clean, dry, and without any batter sticking to it.

Step 5

Cool on a wire rack, then remove the cake and let it dry on the rack for a little longer.
