Description
Orange Pie
Ingredients
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Orange juice concentrate - 7 fl oz
- Sugar - 1½ spoons
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
- Olive Oil - 8 fl oz
- Chicken Egg - 4 pieces
- Orange zest - 1 tablespoon
- Natural Yogurt - 7.1 oz
- Vanilla extract - ½ spoons
- Semolina - ¼ glasses
- Baking Powder - 1½ spoons
- Phyllo Dough - 12 oz
- Butter - 0.4 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 320°F. Slice the orange into rounds. Place 3 rounds in a deep bowl and pour orange juice over them. Cover with foil and bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes, until the oranges are soft. Allow to cool.
Step 2
In a small saucepan, combine 1.5 cups of water, half the sugar, and add a cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil. After 5 minutes, remove the syrup from heat and pour it over the baked orange. Allow it to cool.
Step 3
Grease a rectangular loaf pan with butter and dust it with flour. In a bowl, beat the sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy. Add semolina, orange juice, olive oil, yogurt, orange zest, and vanilla.
Step 4
Cut the phyllo dough into small pieces and fold it into the batter. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan.
Step 5
Bake for 35-40 minutes until a beautiful golden color is achieved. When the cake is ready, poke it several times with a skewer and drizzle with cooled syrup. This will help the cake absorb the syrup especially well. For serving, slice the cake into 12 square pieces and decorate each with a quarter of an orange.
