Description
Orange Pie
Ingredients
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Orange juice concentrate - 11 fl oz
- Sugar - 10.6 oz
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
- Olive Oil - 9 fl oz
- Chicken Egg - 4 pieces
- Orange zest - 1.4 oz
- Natural Yogurt - 6.7 oz
- Vanilla extract - ½ spoons
- Semolina - 1.8 oz
- Baking Powder - 1½ spoons
- Phyllo Dough - 12 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 356°F.
Step 2
Cut three round slices from the orange, about 3–5 mm thick, and arrange them in a single layer at the bottom of a small baking dish.
Step 3
Pour in 250 ml of orange juice (freshly squeezed is preferable, but you can use packaged as long as it's not too sweet) and bake for 40–45 minutes, then remove from the oven.
Step 4
In the meantime, mix 120 grams of sugar, a cinnamon stick, and water. Reduce the mixture by a third, pour it over the oranges in the mold, and let it cool completely.
Step 5
Grease a 20×30 cm baking dish with butter and dust with flour.
Step 6
In a bowl, beat the remaining sugar and eggs until pale, then add the remaining orange juice, followed by the oil, yogurt, zest, and vanilla.
Step 7
In a separate bowl, combine the semolina and baking powder, then gradually incorporate it into the egg mixture.
Step 8
Cut the phyllo dough into strips 1.5 cm wide and gently fold them into the mixture.
Step 9
Pour into a baking dish and bake for 35–40 minutes.
Step 10
Remove the baked pie from the oven and pour over the syrup in which the oranges were steeped. For convenience, you can transfer the syrup to a container with a spout. Allow the pie to cool.
Step 11
Carefully cut the pie into twelve square pieces, and each orange slice into four sections.
Step 12
Serve the pie garnished with orange slices.
