Oven-Baked Croutons from White Bread with Hard Cheese
Ingredients
- White bread - 1 piece
- Hard Cheese - 5 oz
- Garlic - 1 head
- Salt - to taste
- Vegetable Oil - 3 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Cut the bread into small cubes. It's better to use yesterday's bread.
Step 3
Line a baking dish with parchment paper.
Step 4
Transfer the cubed bread into a plastic bag.
Step 5
Peel the garlic, wash it well, and press it into the bag with the cubed bread. Add 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Step 6
Inflate the bag slightly, seal it well, and mix the bread with the seasonings by gently shaking.
Step 7
Grate the hard cheese using a fine grater.
Step 8
Place the prepared cubes from the bag into the lined baking dish.
Step 9
Sprinkle two-thirds of the grated cheese over the croutons in the dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 300°F for about 15 minutes, remove from the oven, stir slightly, add the remaining cheese, and return to the oven for another 5-7 minutes.
Step 10
Immediately transfer the finished croutons to a bowl. Serve cold with first courses or as a snack with beer.
