Description

This recipe was shared with us by a popular tourism and events information portal in Genoa, TravelGenoa.com.

Ingredients

  • Brewer's Yeast - 0.7 oz
  • Wheat Flour - 28.2 oz
  • Butter - 3.5 oz
  • Sugar - 8.8 oz
  • Raisins - 3.5 oz
  • Pistachios - 3.5 oz
  • Candied fruits - 3.5 oz
  • Nigella Seeds - 1.8 oz
  • Salt - to taste
  • Orange Syrup - 0 fl oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Pour the flour onto a clean surface and make a well in the center. Pour in the yeast dissolved in half a cup of warm water. Gently knead the dough until the mixture becomes elastic. If necessary, you can add more water. Place the dough in a bowl, cover it with a warm cloth, and let it rest overnight.

Step 2

Chop the candied fruits into small pieces. Add the melted butter, orange extract, sugar, and salt. Incorporate these ingredients into the dough prepared the day before.

Step 3

Add the dried and squeezed raisins, pine nuts, and fennel seeds. Mix the mixture for at least 15 minutes.

Step 4

Divide the dough into two equal parts and place them on two baking sheets, shaping them as desired. Cover with a cloth and let them rise in a warm place for another 12 hours.

Step 5

Place the dough in the oven and bake at 356°F for about an hour, until golden brown.
