Description
Pear and Walnut Strudel
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 5.3 oz
- Olive Oil - 2 fl oz
- Water - 2 fl oz
- Salt - 0.2 oz
- Pears - 2 lbs
- Cinnamon - ½ teaspoon
- Walnuts - 5.3 oz
- Sugar - 1.8 oz
- Whole egg - 1 piece
- Powdered Sugar - 1.1 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Sift the flour and mix it with salt.
Step 2
Mix warm water with oil and pour this mixture over the flour.
Step 3
Knead until the dough stops sticking to your hands and becomes elastic.
Step 4
Then roll the dough into a log and knead it vigorously on an oiled surface, such as a countertop.
Step 5
Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30–40 minutes.
Step 6
Preheat the oven.
Step 7
Prepare the pears and walnuts, mixing the sliced and peeled pears with walnuts and cinnamon, then combine with sugar (you can add more to taste). The pears can be peeled.
Step 8
Divide the dough into two parts and roll it out to a translucent state on an oiled countertop (if you roll it on flour, it loses its light flavor), or if you're not confident, roll it to a thickness that is comfortable for you.
Step 9
Divide the filling in half and begin to place it on one half of the rolled and oiled dough (it is already oiled if you didn't roll it on flour).
Step 10
Rolling it up (make sure your hands are oiled), tuck the edges inward.
Step 11
Then place the rolled strudel on parchment paper, positioned closer to the strudel.
Step 12
Transfer the strudel on the parchment to the oven, placing the baking sheet in the center of the oven.
Step 13
Bake in the preheated oven for 25–35 minutes at 392°F.
Step 14
After baking, brush the top with egg yolk and sprinkle with powdered sugar, and let it cool for 30 minutes.
