Description
Pears baked in Marsala wine
Ingredients
- Pears - 8 pieces
- Marsala - 19 fl oz
- Golden caster sugar - 1.8 oz
- Cinnamon - 2 pieces
- Vanilla Pod - 1 piece
- Arrowroot - 2 teaspoons
- Sour Cream - 17.6 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the pears, leaving the stems intact. Trim the base so the pears can stand upright.
Step 2
Place the pears on their side in a pot, pour in the wine, sprinkle with sugar, and add the cinnamon and vanilla.
Step 3
Bring to a boil, cover with a lid, and place in an oven preheated to 266°F (266 degrees Fahrenheit) for 1.5 hours, then turn to the other side and cook for another 1.5 hours.
Step 4
Transfer the pears to a serving dish, let cool, and keep the juice in the pot.
Step 5
Prepare the syrup: in a bowl, mix the arrowroot with a small amount of cold water, pour into the pot, stir, bring to a boil, remove from heat, and let cool.
Step 6
Pour the cold syrup over the pears, cover with foil, and refrigerate.
Step 7
Serve on individual plates, placing the pears upright. Serve the sour cream separately.
