Pears in Red Wine
Ingredients
- Red Grape Juice - 27 fl oz
- Sour Cream - 17.6 oz
- Pears - 6 pieces
- Cinnamon - 2 sticks
- Ground clove - 11 pieces
- Vanilla salt - 1 pod
- Powdered Sugar - 1.8 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the pears, leaving the stems intact. Cut a small circle at the bottom for stability in the pot.
Step 2
Bring the wine to a boil with the sugar, cloves, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Step 3
Place the pears at the bottom of the pot, cover with a lid, and keep at a gentle simmer for 45 minutes. Occasionally check the wine level to ensure it fully covers the pears.
Step 4
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cooked pears to a serving dish. Remove the cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla from the wine in the pot. Let it cool.
Step 5
Sprinkle with a small amount of powdered sugar.
Step 6
Cover the pears with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate.
Step 7
Serve the sour cream separately.
