Description
Pears poached in grape juice
Ingredients
- Pears - 3 pieces
- Sugar - 5 tablespoons
- Red Grape Juice - 1 qt
- Ground Cinnamon - 2 tablespoons
- Ground Nutmeg - 1 teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the pears, leaving the 'stem' intact, and cut off the bottom of the pears so they can stand upright on the plate.
Step 2
Pour 1 liter of red grape juice into a pot, place it on the stove, add 5 tablespoons of sugar, and stir.
Step 3
Then add 2 tablespoons of cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of nutmeg, and mix everything together.
Step 4
When the juice comes to a boil, reduce the heat, add the pears to the juice, and simmer for 30 minutes. The juice with the pears should not boil but should 'simmer.' The color of the pears should be even; to achieve this, periodically turn the pears with a spoon to submerge the floating side. The pears should remain firm.
Step 5
Transfer the cooked pears to a serving dish and add the syrup that remains after poaching the pears.
