Description
Recipe from a magazine. The filling for these pies in England is stewed fruits (most often apples), nuts, and berries (for example, cranberries), with spices and rum (or brandy). However, you can also use raisins, dried fruits and berries, nuts, or jam as filling. The filling should be about 350 grams.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 8.8 oz
- Butter - 4.4 oz
- Whole egg - 1 piece
- Powdered Sugar - 0.9 oz
- Milk - 2 tablespoons
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 356°F. Mix the sifted flour and chopped butter with your fingers until crumbly. Stir in the powdered sugar and egg yolk.
Step 2
Add milk to make the dough soft. On a floured surface, lightly knead the dough until smooth.
Step 3
Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1 cm. Use cookie cutters to cut out 12 circles (you can use a glass) and 12 stars (slightly smaller than the circles).
Step 4
Grease a tartlet pan with butter, sprinkle with flour, and place the circles of dough in it, pricking the base several times with a fork.
Step 5
Fill the tartlets halfway with the filling and cover with stars on top. Brush all the stars with beaten egg.
Step 6
Bake for about 15 minutes. Decorate the finished pies with powdered sugar and almond flakes.
