Pies with mushrooms and rice
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 14.1 oz
- Butter - 5.3 oz
- Vodka - 1 tablespoon
- Onion - 2 heads
- Dried Chinese mushrooms - 5.3 oz
- Rice - 2.5 oz
- Whole egg - 1 piece
- Salt - to taste
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Boil and finely chop the dried mushrooms. Cook a third of a cup of rice.
Step 2
Finely chop the onion and sauté it in vegetable oil until golden brown. Add the mushrooms to the same pan and cook for a few minutes alongside the onion. Mix with the rice, and season with salt and pepper to taste. The filling is ready.
Step 3
Sift the flour and add the frozen butter to it. Use a knife to chop the butter into cubes, then use your hands to rub the cubes into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 4
Pour half a cup of cold water, add a tablespoon of vodka, and sprinkle in a teaspoon of salt. Knead the dough, shape it into a ball, cover with a cloth, and place it in the freezer for about fifteen minutes.
Step 5
Roll out the dough thinly with a rolling pin and use a large champagne glass to cut out circles. Place a teaspoon of filling on each circle. Pinch the edges of the pastries together and brush them with egg yolk to give them a nice finish.
Step 6
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the pies on it. Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven at 374°F for about twenty minutes, or until the pies are golden brown.
