Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 3½ glasses
- Water - 1 glass
- Vegetable Oil - 4 spoons
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Tomatoes - 5 pieces
- Feta cheese - 7.1 oz
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Herbs - to taste
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Slice the tomatoes into rounds. Crumble the feta cheese with a fork (if using cottage cheese, add salt), press the garlic through a garlic press, add the chopped herbs, and mix well.
Step 2
In boiling water, dissolve the sugar and salt, then add the vegetable oil. Incorporate the flour. Knead into a soft dough. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Roll out half of the dough into a large, thin sheet. Place slices of tomato on the dough, ensuring they are at least 3 cm apart. Top each tomato slice with the filling.
Step 4
Roll out the second sheet of dough and cover the first one with the filling. Use a glass of appropriate diameter to cut out pastries following the contours of each tomato slice, and do this for all the pastries.
Step 5
Fry the pastries in a large amount of hot vegetable oil on both sides.
Step 6
Place on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
