Description
Moldovan flat pies made from stretched dough. They can be filled with cottage cheese, feta cheese, eggs and herbs, or potatoes.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 20 oz
- Water - 10 fl oz
- Salt - a pinch
- Vegetable Oil - 4 tablespoons
- Feta cheese - 15 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix the flour, water, vegetable oil, and salt to form a not very thick dough. If necessary, add more water. Knead well by hand, then slap it against the table. Set aside for 10 minutes in a warm place, covered with a warm towel.
Step 2
Divide the dough into several pieces the size of an egg, and roll each piece out thinly on a floured surface.
Step 3
Carefully stretch each piece of dough on the table until it becomes semi-transparent. Leave it on the table for a few minutes.
Step 4
Layer several sheets of dough on top of each other, generously greasing each layer with oil. Place the filling (grated feta cheese) in the center, and fold the ends of the dough over, overlapping them loosely.
Step 5
Heat a skillet over medium heat with a small amount of oil. Carefully place the plăcintă in the skillet – first the side with the seam (4 minutes), then 2 minutes on the other side. Excess oil drains well if you place the finished plăcintă on paper towels.
