Poached figs in red wine with vanilla ice cream

Ingredients

  • Rosé Dry Wine - 12 fl oz
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Cinnamon - 1 piece
  • Green Figs - 3.9 oz
  • Ground clove - 2 pieces
  • Vanilla Ice Cream - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

In a deep skillet, combine all ingredients except for the ice cream. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes until tender.

Step 2

Using a slotted spoon, transfer the figs to a bowl.

Step 3

Bring the syrup to a boil and cook until the volume is reduced to 60 ml. Strain the syrup into another bowl.

Step 4

Add the syrup to the figs and cool to a warm temperature.

Step 5

Scoop the ice cream into serving dishes and top with the fig mixture.
