Description
Poached Pears
Ingredients
- Pears - 4 pieces
- Rice Sweet Wine - 16 fl oz
- Beetroot - 1 piece
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Meyer Lemon Juice - 1 fl oz
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
- Bay leaf - 2 pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the beetroot, slice it thinly, and bring it to a boil with the wine, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and bay leaves. Stir occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 2
Cut firm ripe pears of small size (for example, 'Forelle' variety) in half, remove the core, and add to the syrup. Cover everything with parchment paper and simmer for 35-40 minutes, occasionally turning the pears until they become soft.
Step 3
Transfer the poached pears to a bowl, remove the cinnamon and bay leaves, and pour over the syrup. Let the pears cool for 30 minutes.
