Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour - 8.8 oz
  • Butter - 5.3 oz
  • Poppy seed paste - 8.8 oz
  • Sugar - 4.4 oz
  • Cinnamon - ½ spoons
  • Raisins - 1.8 oz
  • Milk - ¼ l
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Powdered Sugar - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Sift 200 grams of flour onto a work surface. Make a well in the center and add salt, 5 tablespoons of warm water, and 50 grams of melted butter.

Step 2

Then gradually add flour from the sides. Knead a smooth, elastic dough. Shape it into a ball. Brush the dough with liquid oil and wrap it in foil. To ensure the dough is elastic and easy to roll out, place it in a dry, warm pot for 30 minutes and cover with a lid.

Step 3

For the filling: mix the poppy seeds with sugar, cinnamon, and 50 grams of melted butter, then add enough hot milk to achieve a spreadable consistency without making it too soft. Rinse the raisins and drain them in a sieve.

Step 4

Roll out the dough on a floured towel into a sheet. Then stretch it with your hands to a size of about 50x70 cm. Brush with melted butter. Next, spread the poppy seed filling, leaving a 3 cm border along the long edges. Sprinkle with raisins.

Step 5

Fold the open edges inward. Roll the dough into a log. Pinch both ends closed. Place the log on a greased baking tray and brush it with melted butter.

Step 6

Bake at 347°F for about 50 minutes. During baking, continuously brush the roll with melted butter. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar.
