Poppy Seed Buns
Ingredients
- Poppy seed paste - 7.1 oz
- Milk - 10 fl oz
- Sugar - 3.4 oz
- Egg white - 2 pieces
- Butter - 2.1 oz
- Water - 3 fl oz
- Dry yeast - 0.5 oz
- Salt - a pinch
- Wheat Flour - 12.3 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Rinse the poppy seeds well with water.
Step 3
Drain the water.
Step 4
Transfer the poppy seeds to a saucepan and pour in the milk (200 ml).
Step 5
Place on the heat and boil for 20 minutes until the milk evaporates.
Step 6
Transfer to a bowl and add sugar (80 g), butter (30 g), and 1 egg white.
Step 7
Blend with a blender.
Step 8
In a bowl, combine milk (100 ml), water, yeast, sugar (15 g), and a pinch of salt.

Mix well.

Add 1 egg.

Mix again.

Gradually add the flour.

Stir until combined.

Place the dough on a countertop and add softened butter (30 g).

Knead the dough by hand and place it in a bowl. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Roll out to a thickness of 2–3 mm.

Spread the poppy seed filling on top.

Roll it up into a log.

Slice into pieces.

Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush with the remaining egg yolk.

Bake in an oven preheated to 356°F for 20 minutes.
