Description
I think any liqueur will do, and it doesn't have to be orange. Bon appetit :)
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 5.3 oz
- Brown Sugar - 4 tablespoons
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Milk - 5 fl oz
- Sour Cream - 3.5 oz
- Orange bitters - 2 teaspoons
- Honey - 1½ tablespoons
- Poppy seed paste - 1.8 oz
- Mandarins - 4 pieces
- Mascarpone Cheese Unagrande - 8.8 oz
- Ground Cinnamon - a pinch
- Ground clove - a pinch
- Mint - to taste
- Ground clove - a pinch
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Soak the poppy seeds in a glass of hot water, add 0.5 tablespoons of honey, and boil for 6–7 minutes. Then drain the water from the pot and place the poppy seeds on a plate to dry.
Step 2
Mix the brown sugar with cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
Step 3
Peel all the mandarins and slice them into thin rounds. Arrange them in a single layer on a tray or plate, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of the spiced sugar, and let sit for 30 minutes. Finely chop the zest of two mandarins (you can slice it thinly).
Step 4
Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl, and add the remaining 3 tablespoons of sugar.
Step 5
Mix the sour cream with the egg and milk. Add the chopped mandarin zest, poppy seeds, and the remaining 1 tablespoon of honey. Whisk and gradually combine with the flour mixture.
Step 6
Pour the liqueur into the batter, cover with a cloth, and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Step 7
Fry the pancakes in heated vegetable oil, about 2 minutes on each side.
Step 8
Garnish with mandarin slices, add 0.5 tablespoons of mascarpone, and mint leaves, and serve.
