Ingredients
- Poppy seed paste - 3.5 oz
- Butter - 2.5 oz
- Sugar - 3.5 oz
- Milk - 5 fl oz
- Semolina - 1 tablespoon
- Whole egg - 1 piece
- Puff Pastry - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cook the poppy seeds in milk with added sugar until thickened (10–15 minutes from boiling), add the semolina and cook for another 5 minutes.
Step 2
Roll out the dough until it doubles in size.
Step 3
Cool the poppy seed mixture and add the butter. Mix well.
Step 4
Spread the filling on the dough and roll it up along the long side.
Step 5
Cut the roll lengthwise into pieces 1.5 cm wide and twist it into a round shape.
Step 6
Bake, brushing the top with beaten egg yolk, for 20–25 minutes at a temperature of 180–392°F.
