Ingredients
- Poppy seed paste - 8.8 oz
- Puff Pastry - 1 piece
- Milk - 7 fl oz
- Honey - 3 spoons
- Sugar - 3 spoons
- Butter - 1.8 oz
- Whole egg - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Place the poppy seeds in a saucepan, cover with boiling water, and let sit for 20–30 minutes.
Step 2
Drain the water. Place the saucepan with the poppy seeds over heat and allow any remaining water to evaporate.
Step 3
Add honey, sugar, and milk to the poppy seeds. Cook the poppy seeds over low heat until the liquid evaporates, about 40 minutes. Add butter and simmer for another 5 minutes. Allow the poppy seed mixture to cool.
Step 4
Roll out the prepared puff pastry. Spread the filling on the pastry and roll it up into a log.
Step 5
Beat the egg yolk and brush it over the roll.
Step 6
Place the roll in a preheated oven at 356°F for 30-40 minutes. You can check if the roll is ready by inserting a toothpick into it. If there is no dough left on the toothpick, the roll is done.
