Description
Donuts are often considered not the healthiest food, but in this version, they can become a compromise between 'delicious' and 'healthy.'
Ingredients
- Pumpkin - 31.7 oz
- Oranges - 14.1 oz
- Wheat Flour - 24.7 oz
- Salt - 0.5 oz
- Sugar - 1.4 oz
- Dry yeast - 0.7 oz
- Water - 3 fl oz
- Whole egg - 6 pieces
- Powdered Sugar - 1.8 oz
- Unrefined Sunflower Oil - 1 qt
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the pumpkin and cut it into large cubes. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 180°C.
Step 2
Puree the pumpkin and let it cool.
Step 3
Dissolve the yeast in warm water and stir in a handful of flour and a pinch of sugar. Let the mixture ferment in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Step 4
Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Add the yolks and the risen dough to the mashed puree. Then incorporate the juice from two oranges, salt, sugar, and the remaining flour. Knead until you have a smooth and light dough. Leave it in a warm place for about 1.5 hours, occasionally punching it down.
Step 5
Heat refined sunflower oil and fry the doughnuts, using two spoons to shape them. Once the doughnuts are golden brown, remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels for a few minutes.
Step 6
Serve with powdered sugar.
