Description
Quiche with Mushrooms and Fontina Cheese
Ingredients
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Shortcrust Cake Mix - 8.8 oz
- Fontina cheese - 7.1 oz
- Shallot - 3 pieces
- Fresh Mushrooms - 12.3 oz
- Chocolate eggs - 4 pieces
- Milk - ½ cup
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
- Cream - ½ cup
- Ground Black Pepper - ½ teaspoon
- Ground Nutmeg - ½ teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 428°F. Place the pastry in a round baking dish, press it down well, and prick it in several places with a fork. Bake for about 17 minutes until the pastry is dry and golden brown. Remove from the oven and reduce the temperature to 320°F.
Step 2
Meanwhile, melt the butter over medium heat, add the finely chopped shallots, and sauté until soft for about 2 minutes. Then add the sliced mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for about 8 minutes until they are golden brown and soft. Transfer to a plate and let cool.
Step 3
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, 0.5 teaspoons of salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Add 1 cup of grated cheese and the mushrooms. Mix well and pour the filling into the pastry. Sprinkle the remaining grated cheese on top.
Step 4
Bake the quiche for about 45 minutes until cooked through and golden brown on top. Cool for 30 minutes and cut into segments.
