Description
Ellebrod is a Danish dessert made from rye bread. From our 'Golden Thousand'.
Ingredients
- Rye Bread - 10.6 oz
- Dark Ale - 11 fl oz
- Water - 2 fl oz
- Sugar - 0.7 oz
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Cinnamon - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - a pinch
- Whipped Cream - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Tear or cut the stale bread into small pieces.
Step 3
Pour in the beer.
Step 4
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight.
Step 5
Soak the bread, mash it with a fork, and transfer it to a saucepan.
Step 6
Add water, sugar, the juice of half an orange, salt, and cinnamon.
Step 7
Place over medium heat and warm, stirring, for 5-7 minutes until the porridge thickens.
Step 8
Serve in individual portions.
Step 9
Garnish with a spoonful of whipped cream and orange zest.
