Description
In the original recipe, the filling is all raw. In my experience, this causes the dough to bake while the potatoes and onions remain crunchy. Therefore, I lightly sauté the onions and parboil the potato slices for just 5 minutes. The filling needs to be seasoned well with salt and pepper, otherwise, it will be bland.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 5 cups
- Water - 1½ cups
- Dry yeast - 1.8 oz
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
- Smoked haddock fillet - 17.6 oz
- Onion - 1 head
- Salad Potatoes - 3 pieces
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Vegetable Oil - 2 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the yeast dough.
Step 2
Divide it into two parts.
Step 3
Roll out a flatbread and place it in a greased baking dish.
Step 4
On the flatbread, layer the thinly sliced potatoes, then the thinly sliced onions, followed by pieces of fillet. Season well with salt and pepper, drizzle with vegetable oil. Cover with the second flatbread, sealing the edges well. Make a small hole on top for steam to escape. If not fasting, you can brush the pie with egg yolk.
Step 5
Bake in a preheated oven for about 40 minutes. Remove, place on a plate, cover with a towel, and let cool.
