Description
Scones are a type of baked good that originated in the United Kingdom. They are typically made from wheat flour, baking powder, and butter, and can be sweet or savory. Traditionally served with clotted cream and jam, scones are a popular choice for afternoon tea. Enjoy them warm with a cup of tea or coffee.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 17.6 oz
- Baking Powder - 3 spoons
- Sugar - 1.8 oz
- Butter - 3.9 oz
- Milk - 10 fl oz
- Salt - to taste
- Cream - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Sift the flour and baking powder. Add the sugar and mix well.
Step 2
Mix the dry ingredients with the butter until crumbly. Gently toss the crumbs to incorporate air into the dough.
Step 3
Make a well in the center of the crumbs and pour the milk into it. First, mix with a spatula, then transfer the dough to a floured surface and gently knead.
Step 4
Roll the dough into a disc about 3-4 cm thick. Use a pastry cutter to cut out scones, dipping the cutter in flour each time.
Step 5
Brush the scones with cream and place them in an oven preheated to 392°F for 12 minutes.
Step 6
Transfer the finished scones to a wire rack covered with a towel and place another towel on top. Allow them to cool. Serve with butter and jam.
