Description
Shortcrust tartlet with black currant
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 5.6 oz
- Butter - 2.8 oz
- Salt - a pinch
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Egg Yolk - 1 piece
- Water - 3 tablespoons
- Black Currant Jam - 4 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Sift the flour, add cold butter cut into small cubes. Mix until a uniform crumbly state is achieved. Add sugar to the mixture.
Step 2
Add one egg yolk and 3 tablespoons of cold water. Mix well. The dough should be easy to mold and not stick to your hands. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Grease the baking molds with butter, and line them with a thin layer of dough shaped like 'baskets'. Fill the tartlets with black currant jam (you can also use blended berries), and grate some of the remaining dough on top or cut out decorative shapes for garnishing the pastries.
Step 4
Bake for 30-40 minutes at 356°F. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar.
