Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour - 1 cup
  • Salt - 0 oz
  • Vegetable Oil - 2 fl oz
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Toasted Sesame - 3.5 oz
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Dry yeast - 1.4 oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Dissolve the yeast with sugar in a cup of warm water, and after a few minutes, knead the dough: in a bowl with the dissolved yeast, add salt, oil, and gradually incorporate the flour. The dough should be soft. Leave the dough in a warm place for 1 hour to rise.

Step 2

Roll the dough into sausages with a diameter of 2–3 cm and let them rest for about 5 minutes. Then cut the sausages into pieces about 30 cm long and shape them into rings. The strands can be twisted for a prettier appearance. Secure the ends well.

Step 3

Dip each ring first in water, then in sesame seeds. To make more sesame stick to the ring, you can slightly flatten it on top.

Step 4

Place the rings on a baking sheet and let them rest for about 20–30 minutes depending on the room temperature, so the dough can rise.

Step 5

Bake the simits in the oven at 356°F for 15–20 minutes (it may take less time, depending on the thickness of the bagels). It's best to keep an eye on the baking process, as the bagels are thin and bake quickly, and the sesame seeds can start to burn.
