  • Butter - 1.8 oz
  • Sugar - 7.1 oz
  • Chicken Egg - 2 pieces
  • Wheat Flour - 6.3 oz
  • Baking Powder - 1½ spoons
  • Lemon - ½ pieces
  • Milk - 3 fl oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Cream the softened butter with the sugar, then beat this mixture with the eggs until it becomes fluffy.

Step 2

Sift the flour with the baking powder into the bowl with the butter mixture, then add the zest of half a lemon and warm milk. If you use cold milk, the sponge cake will not be moist. Mix the dough and pour it into a greased baking pan.

Step 3

Bake the sponge cake in an oven preheated to 347°F for 28-30 minutes. To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center of the cake; if it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
