Spanakopita (Pie with Feta and Spinach)
Ingredients
- Olive Oil - 0 fl oz
- Onion - 2 pieces
- Frozen spinach discs - 17.6 oz
- Phyllo Dough - 17.6 oz
- Feta cheese - 17.6 oz
- Quail Egg - 3 pieces
- Wheat Flour - 2 tablespoons
- Dill - 3 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large pot. Sauté the finely chopped onion until soft.
Step 2
Squeeze out excess liquid, add the spinach, dill, and flour to the onion. Cook until the moisture evaporates, then remove from heat and add lightly beaten eggs (set aside a little egg for brushing the pie).
Step 3
Add crumbled feta, salt, and pepper to taste.
Step 4
Roll out the dough (very thin, or stretch by hand) to approximately 20 cm by 1 m.
Step 5
Place the filling and roll it up.
Step 6
Place the roll on a baking sheet lined with paper, as shown in the photo. Brush with egg. Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for 40–50 minutes.
