Description
In Germany, this is the most popular Christmas treat. The surface of the cookies is often coated with icing.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 17.6 oz
- Baking Powder - 2 spoons
- Sugar - 8.8 oz
- Vanilla salt - ½ spoons
- Cardamom - to taste
- Flavoring - 0 fl oz
- Ground clove - a pinch
- Cinnamon - 1 tablespoon
- Butter - 7.1 oz
- Chicken Egg - 2 pieces
- Nuts - 3.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Knead the dough: combine all the dry ingredients, including the nuts. Add the eggs. Cut the butter into small pieces and evenly distribute it over the dough, then sprinkle with flour and quickly knead. The dough should be smooth and not stick to your hands. You can refrigerate it for a while.
Step 2
Roll out the prepared dough thinly and cut out shapes with a knife or cookie cutters, preferably stars and animals. If using wooden cutters, press the dough into the floured cutter, then trim off any excess dough, and finally, remove the cookies from the cutters.
Step 3
Grease a baking sheet with fat or oil, place the raw cookies on it, and put it in a preheated oven at 374°F. Bake for no more than ten minutes.
Step 4
Let it cool and dust with powdered sugar.
